F*ck Smart Wifi
My not so-Smart Wifi was disconnected from Feb. 16, 2006 and was reconnected only this afternoon. I called their *1888 help line but instead of helping me they just irritated me! Try calling them to experience it first hand.
2/1/06: I called them regarding my slow connection. Agent Emerson answered and he put me on hold for more than 5 minutes and didn't get back at me.
2/16/06: No connection. I called to inform them. Queue was more than 5 minutes, I had to call more than 5 times before I was able to speak to an agent. Glenn Villaflor answered. He guided me on several ipconfig things, which they can't explain why. Labo! Didn't help though.
I called several times more than thrice a day. Finally they forwarded my complaint to their "higher technical" people and told me to expect a call. Lynne called while I'm out, I told her to call again after an hour. Of course, I waited, she didn't call. I called *1888 again, more than four times to follow up. Finally John Elner called and arranged for their contractor to visit me. I told him to schedule it beofre 11:00AM today because I have an appointment. I stayed at home until 11:15AM but nobody arrived. They arrived at 4:00PM. Stupid stupid stupid!

Farms: Tilapia and Broiler
On a small-scale broiler farm in General Trias, Cavite.

Valentines Day 2006
As usual, I had a very ordinary day; no unusual case for today. I just went around the province and here are some of the interesting things I saw:
1. Mass wedding in Dasmariñas
2. Slaughtering of a dog in Dasmariñas, Sitio Batuhan.
In my humble opinion (Note: I'm not an animal rightist, just an animal welfarist.), dogs specially those kept as pets should not be slaughtered for food. If you really want to eat dog meat, farm them, as they do in Korea or China. In farms, at least, no human-animal bonding is formed.
I don't know if I already have eaten dog meat, as a batchmate in Pampanga serves dog meat occasionally during visits. They have a way of cooking which masks it as lean pork so it's really hard to differentiate. The last time I went there, I didn't pick ANY meat. I opted for vegies instead.

Mahalaga ang pagbabakuna ng mga tuta, pero di lang dapat saksak ng saksak kasi maraming dapat i-consider na factors katulad ng kalagayan ng inahin, ng bakuna nya, ng gatas na iniinom ng tuta, ang kapaligiran at iba pa. Kung tutuusin madali lang magsaksak, ang tanong, may maganda kayang epekto ang sinaksak? Baka wala, sayang lang lahat.

On the Road
I spent almost 70% of my working hours today on the road. I registered more than 170kms on a Nissan Frontier from 8:00AM to 4:30PM!
My route: From Silang, to Mendez, to Tagaytay, to Indang, to Naic, to Maragondon, to Gen. Aguinaldo, to Alfonso, to Mendez, to Tagaytay, and back to Silang.
I'm really thankful to my iTrip which didn't bore me. I was able to listen to several Podcasts and to most of my Recently Added music. My favorite among them are Jed Madella's revivals and Francis M's old raps.
Off topic: Did you know that colistin (a polymixin) is used by human doctors as pre-operative drug for intestinal surgery cases. Colistin is used to sterilize the bowel because this drug is only acting inside the intestine and is not absorbed into the blood stream.
I use colistin on some cases of diarrhea in piglets as a feed premix.

Peanut Butter Sandwich
I'm having an addiction na naman, which is so frustrating because I'm trying to control my weight---to peanut butter sandwich! I just can't resist the urge. Why?
1. I like the texture. Pinoy peanut butter is soft and creamy, unlike imported ones.
2. I like the taste. Sweet but not so sweet.
3. I prefer this over mayo based spreads. Mayo tastes industrial.
In my kitchen right now are three glasses of Ludy's Peanut Butter. :)
If my memory is still functioning correctly, when I was on summer school (2001, before my real high schooling), I used to help my aunt in making peanut butter by removing the husks of the peanuts that she roasts. I swear, even roasted peanuts taste so good. :-)

On Having Pets
I am not the type of person that can keep a pet, because of the nature of my job, which requires extended hours away from my apartment. Also, I don't like the idea of me picking up my pet's poop! This just shows that I'm not a very responsible person in that aspect.
During this town's fiesta, many booths were opened along Silang's main street. I chanced upon one selling miniature stuffs. I bought several as sub(stitute) pets. Here's one, named Pig:
By the way, at home we name animals after the source---we once had a cow named Asun(ciana) and a dog named Kim (from Mr. Queme)!

Wowowee
I can only feel pity or those who perished in the Ultra Stampede which happened yesterday morning. Majority of those who died were seniors and children, mostly coming from rural/urban-poor communities. They may have been trampled upon because they were those who lined up first. Most of them are very weak and hungry because they were assembled there as early as Wednesday!
It just shows that many of our people are betting their future on TV gameshows which is so sad. This is an evidence that opportunities in this country are very, very rare.
ABS-CBN must be held responsible for this.
While listening to DZBB AM radio yesterday, because I was on the road the whole day, the anchor quipped that many died because most didn't care and were still focused on entering the stadium. Even when some were asking for help, most turned on the opposite direction. Very New York City!

The Most Tiring Day, Ever!
I'm very, very tired today because I participated in Karakol 2006, part of the acvities in celebration of Silang's town fiesta. The route this time was shorter compared to last year but still about 4 kilometers!
By the way, after the parade, I immediately bought paracetamol + ibuprofen to relieve my aching muscles.

I found this site through PodVet.
It's about an implant that is used as replacement for the testicles of castrated dogs. The purpose of this is for the dog to appear normal and to decrease psychological trauma associated with the loss of its balls. The thing costs $60. How enterprising!
