30th Anniversary of the Coop

A thanksgiving mass was held, followed by a program which is actually a tribute to the fundadores. Free medical and dental clinics were held throughout the morning by PA and volunteer doctors.

Philippine Idol (Again)

Aside from news and public affairs programs eto na lang ang pinanunuod ko sa TV. Performances last night were way above those previous weeks. With the exception of Get Here and Kailangan Kita e magaling lahat. May props at dancers din, kaya lang agaw- attention. Mamaya kaya?

Required

I feel terrible whenever I'm forced to do something that I don't want to do, anywhere, even at home for some errands and even at work. In the end, I'll do it but the output could be disastrous, and oftentimes, bland.

Livelihood Caravan @ Imus Institute, organized by Cavite Cooperative Development Council

On-site radio program of Gov. Maliksi (Gud AM Cavite), and the room where the MOA signing was held. The MOA is for a partnerhip between local government units and our cooperative.




Imus Institute: Alma mater ni Criselda Volks, he he. Their facilities are good judging by their lavatories. May tissue! At may hand soap! Lahat ng school na pinag-aralan ko wala nun. He he (again).


Balloon making demonstration. It's a good business which actually makes little use of mind! Mark-up can be more than a hundred percent. In the future, I'll have my own balloon shop. He he he.

Grad School

I'm thinking about going to graduate school starting June 2007. My problem is time. I heared that some classes are only offered in weekdays. Paano kaya?

October is Cooperative Month!

The Cavite Cooperative Development Council (Cacodec) held it's annual coop award this night in Trece Martires City. Most impressive among the awardies was this employees' cooperative (I forgot the name), operating somewhere in Carmona. It posted net income of more than 18 million last year with, believe it or not, three, yes, three employees! They are very diversified too. Among their businesses are a consumer store, a credit institution, and a catering business. They won the following awards: Most Promising Cooperative and Best Managed Cooperative. Yung amin, hall of famer na kaya di na napasama sa binigyan ng parangal.

Philippine Idol

Philippine Idol was a lot better tonight than the former episodes. Wency Cornejo's comments as judge were more reflective of what happened in the performances. I hope people would vote based on talent, singing ability, showmanship. Sana.
Sa performance naman, 6 out of 9 e sabit sa tono, timing, etc. Binabawi na lang sa body movement. Di nga pwede i-record kasi di matitiis pakingan ng bibili. Next performance night, try to listen with your eyes closed. Masusuklam ka. He he.

Armadillo ang animal model ng leprosy. May dala silang Mycobacterium leprae. Kaya di sila dapat nilalapitan. Di rin dapat kainin. Maraming tribo sa Palawan ang nagkakaroon ng outbreak ng leprosy dahil sa pesteng armadillo na yan. Eto yung gumugulong at nagiging parang bola pag nagulat o natakot. Makapal yung exoskeleton nya.

Buti na lang at maganda ang gising ko ngayon. While I was doing the usual rounds, on one of the farms I frequent, I had an arguement with the manager. As what I've learned in life (hah), one should never speak when someone speaks. So I let him finish what he had to say. And that was around 7 to 10 minutes. Patiently as I could, poker faced, I listened. #$%%^&^, that long! Ang hirap pala nung ganun na gusto mo sumabat pero pinipigilan mo sarili mo pero sulit!
Then my turn.
By the way, I really have no intention of getting even with him. Abnormal talaga ako siguro ngayon. Naiintindihan ko kasing may kab**ohan sya, kita naman sa ichura. Sana ganito na lang ako lagi.

Health care in the Philippines

I'm not an insurance agent, but I think that with the very high cost of health care (and devalued peso) in the Philippines, having a health card (other than Philhealth) is a must.
A few months ago, I was hospitalized because of a throat infection. I was admitted in DLSU-University Medical Center in Dasmarinas for three days, was IV-ed with drugs, fluids, etc and stayed on a private room. And tadah! The total bill was more than 25,000! Which is x00% of my take home pay! It's a good thing that I have a health insurance talaga. If not, nabaon na ako sa utang. At di pa lumulutang!
My card is courtesy of my employer. Most companies provide them for free. Kaya kung wala ka, bigyan mo sila ng idea, or threat maybe. For the self-employed mas OK kung kukuha ka tapos mag form kayo ng group para mas mura. Philhealth is crap because they only pay for a small fraction of your bill. Also, ikuha mo na rin yung mga family members para mas OK. Magastos magkasakit.

VKV-VLV 2006 Sportsfest

One of the most awaited events of VKV and VLV because it is the least stressful. The first one I attended was held in Pangasinan where I played baseball. Only because wala nang ibang pwedeng sumali. Expectedly, we lost. (We played against a varsity team yata.)
Actually, sportsfest is a misnomer for this event because this is mainly about socializing. Yung sports, excuse lang yun. He he he.

Ajinomoto and Agrilink Photos

I attended Ajinomoto Animal Nutrition Group Technical Seminar 2006 this morning. The topic, of course, is on the use of amino acids in diet formulation in both broiler and pigs. Essentially, what they are saying is that when formulating feeds, one must consider the total available amino acid, and that total crude protein is not that important compared to the available amino acids (lysine, methionine, tryptophan, etc.). And to lower feed cost one must look at each raw material's proximate analysis on a by batch basis so that each batch of feeds has its own unique formulation.

Agrilink 2006 on the otherhand is just a waste of energy. Exhibits are the usual, exhibitors the same. The only consolation when going in such events is seeng old acquaintances.

No electricity, no water from Thursday up to this day in some areas. Some farm buildings collapsed, birds suffered.
In Gen. Trias, Cavite, a dam collapsed which brought down some homes.
