Alternative Perspective

I'm referring to Aljazeera's Youtube Channel which has become one of my favorite channels. They offer an alternative view of world events which is sometimes far from what CNN or BBC says.

Here's an example: a video about Iraq and Saddam.

Another TV program I frequently watch now is I Didn't Know That, an alternative to Mythbusters. 

Production Cost of Hogs, July 2008

Above is a table showing the estimated production cost of pigs. I used current prices and typical backyard farm performance. This means that the breakeven cost of fatteners in backyard farms is already 90 pesos. The current backyard farmgate price here now is also 90, with high of 94.

This means that for a backyard farm to survive this crunch, the owner must focus on GENETICS. If average daily gain is better, lesser feeds (ave. price is nearing 18/kg) would be needed. Next to re-examine are management practices but this topic is too broad to discuss here. Basta, give the best management possible and God will do the rest.
