I'm using Statcounter in this blog, since 2005. It's one of those sites that provide important stats for a site. An example of which is Popular Pages.
In this blog, the most popular post is Glycolysis Mnemonics. I posted this on November 22, 2007. The mnemonic is not originally mine, I just stumbled on it while I'm taking a subject in Biochemistry in graduate school.
Among my chemistry subjects, biochemistry is one of my favorites. It's actually the third chem subject that UPLB Vet students have to take. The first one is Inorganic Chem (Chem 15) while the second is Organic Chem, Chem 40 (which I didn't like and also known as Chem 80 or Chem 120 for some).
I remember during Prevet in UPLB, that I was not able to attend Biochem classes for more than two weeks because I was hospitalized (in UPLB Infirmary!!!) due to an infection. I had to bring that thick, black Biochemistry book in the hospital so I can read the scheduled lessons. I was not able to take the first exam, so I had to take the final exam to makeup for that missed exam.
Exerting more effort for this subject paid off because Biochem is one of the core subjects of medicine. Biochem resurfaced in Physiology 1, 2 (under Dr. Elito Landicho) and 3 (Dr. Rhea Anunciado) and also in the Medicine subjects.
Biochem questions, surprisingly, were also included in the 2003 Veterinary Licensure Examination. Thankfully, I didn't forget my Biochem basics!
