Quail Farm

DSC00029
This backyard quail farm is located in Imus, Cavite. Although it doesn't look like a serious quail business, it actually is. It produces 80 boxes of quail eggs each day and is a viable source of income. The flock is multi-age so production varies among batches. The owner sources day-olds from Bulacan and broods them. This is the brooding cage. Each partition can accomodate 250 heads for four weeks.

According to him, marketing is not a problem as there is high demand for quail eggs. Problems arise when eggs from Northern Luzon reaches Cavite as sellers from those area deal in lower price.
He also gets extra income from the culled quails which he sells to his neigbors.

Super, super liit ng bagong hatch na pugo. Kiti ang tawag sa kanila. Pinaka-common cause of death sa kiti ang cold stress at pagkaipit dahil gumagawa sila ng pyramid (parang sa cheering) pag nilalamig.
