Bunga, Betel Nut

This photo is an experiment on the use of Super Macro Mode on my Olympus. These are betel nut fruits that I saw in the pavement in front of our office compound.

Betel nuts are chewed by some ethnic groups in the Philippines including the old Cuyunons. It's commonly chewed with betel (buyo') and apog (limestone). It's addictive and stains the teeth so it's easy to identify a "chewer" because of the dark teeth stain. But I consider this betel chewing habit dirty because once in a while what remains has to be spat.
