Blood Wedding (Bodas de Sangre)
I saw this film in UP Diliman's theater back in 2002. We were having our Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) duties then and we're staying in the dormitory inside the hospital compound. With nothing to do, we caught this movie in a Spanish Embassy event inside the university.
The movie was very simple. It was actually a flamenco performance that narrates a story, yet emotions were expressed fully by the actors/dancers.

Kidnappings in Kapuso mo Jessica Soho
I just missed the segment on kidnapping of children but I saw the plug this afternoon. Did anyone upload it in Youtube? (Edit: Found it here.)
By the way, I was in SM Mall of Asia's SMX for the second day of the 17th Travel Tour Expo. I was not entertained by the exhibits and booths. I ended up buying an external drive in MOA. Then I tried Pho Hoa, which I'm not recommending.
Now I understand why and how "a trip to Vietnam destroys your taste buds".

Apsara Show in Seam Reap
A cellphone video (Yeah, very poor quality! Blame Nokia.) I made of the Cambodian performers in a buffet restaurant I mentioned in a previous post.
Their dance is not as fast as our folk dances here in the Philippines but the dances were of similar themes.

Kidnapping in QC
No offense meant, but I saw this story on TV and it was given a different twist by Doland Castro, the reporter. His report includes a kidnap for organ angle which I find too absurd. I mean, is it even possible to just abduct someone and use his/her organs for transplant? FYI, organ transplant requires proper matching so that it would not be rejected by the recipient. Even blood transfusion requires so many tests for screening, isn't it?
Read more about Organ Transplant here.
By the way, I have blogged about similar rumors here and here.

Break
I watched Avatar yesterday and I have to accept that I have acrophobia---fear of heights. It's the scene on the cliff and the running on the branches of trees that made me sink in the chair.
I'm watching it again in January, in 3D, as I really liked that movie even just on a regular theater.
I'm going on a trip back home tomorrow and will return on January 7.
Merry Christmas!

Five Years Ago
Five years ago:
- I'm in Los Banos, staying at the cheapest but the best dorm in Rhoda's Subdivision.
- I am reviewing for the board exam on my own because I didn't have 10, 000 to pay for formal review classes at the VMLE Review Center.
- I'm focused on finding a work, but I don't have any particular field in mind.
- Other than my parents, I don't have other source of money.
- I own a blue Alcatel cellphone that is always on ALL CAPS whenever I compose SMS, unlike Nokia phones that on default is in Sentence case.
- I think I lost my baby pic that I'm supposed to submit to the class for our hooding ceremonies. It turned out that I am the only one without a "before" photo being projected on the screen while my name is being called. *Sad*
- I was given a sermon by my thesis adviser before he gave my grade to me, because I failed to do something that he wants. Looking back at it now, I have to thank the adviser for giving me that sermon. In a way it worked, because in times of difficulty, I recall this instance and I'm able to say to my self that "You know you can do it!".
- My favorite comfort food is Lucky Me Pancit Canton with hot and spicy Century Tuna.
- I easily fall asleep, unlike now.
- I watch television like mad. From morning to past midnight. I actually read my old notes in front of TV. At that time I was thinking that if ever I fail the board exam, I would blame it on TV!

HP
I watched HP yesterday in SM Dasma. As I expected the graphics are as good and even better than before, I specifically like the scene in the Ministry where HP fought Voldemort. The story might not be that easy to follow if you didn't read the book. I say this because someone on the back was snoring halfway through the movie. Kakasuya.

Sinabawang Gulay
A healthy way of cooking but without the seasoning please. Here in Cavite they have a version of sinabawang gulay called patalbog or pinatalbog which I like. The most usual vegetable in patalbog is string beans, sitaw or as they call it here, setaw. Makulay ang buhay/ Life is colorful.

Post T Update
No tonsillitis now for about a month, but of course! BUT having tonsillectomy doesn't mean that I cannot have any other throat problem.
+++++
I had SVI of sorts because of my re-introduction to animals, people and work. I'm still occasionally coughing because of it.
+++++
I enjoy watching Mommy Elvie's Problematic Show. It's on ABC5 every Tuesday night.

@work:
I had to ask our HR to talk with the 'boys' for them to catch up with their tasks, I wonder what the results will be.

Coco levy fund
Can a small-town boy stop the abuse of big-time funds?
Driven by a monster typhoon’s destruction of his native Marinduque’s coconut lands, a local boy now working for a major TV network wages a lonely battle for justice.
GMA researcher Ederic Eder’s mother died at sea while delivering his tuition money so he could enroll at UP. That money came from the sweat of his coconut-farming family.
Now a UP-educated professional, he has been researching for years the fate of coconut levy funds that his family paid to the government. Millions of farmers paid the same levy, which was allegedly stolen and used by Marcos cronies to buy companies, including nearly half of the shares in San Miguel Corporation.
Collaborating with I-Witness reporter Howie Severino, Ederic discovers that the government may be getting set to use nearly two billion pesos from those farmers’ funds for electioneering purposes.
They confront officials with their findings and attempt to prevent a repeat of the fertilizer fund scam of 2004.
This eye-opening episode of I-Witness airs Monday late night on GMA 7, right after Saksi. (GMANews.tv)
Karagdagan.

Click
He's always chasing the pot of gold,
but when he gets there,
at the end of the day,
it's just corn flakes.
Haay. Malabo din talaga ang kalikasan nating mga tao.but when he gets there,
at the end of the day,
it's just corn flakes.
He he.
IMDB-Michael Newman seems to have a perfect life- a beautiful wife, two small children, and a job with great potential. But as his jerky boss passes Michael up for promotion after promotion, Michael becomes fed up, and wishes he could find a way to just, oh, skip through the hard parts in life. He gets exactly that -and much, much more- when he stumbles upon the Beyond section of a Bed, Bath, and Beyond in search of a universal remote. But as it turns out, the remote controls, well, the entire universe! At first this seems a blessing, but as the remote begins to program itself Michael finds his life skipping by, sometimes a few months, sometimes years. Will he be able to get his life back before its entirely gone?

Ariel in KMJS
Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho is a weekly news magazine show in GMA 7 that offers several topics per episode. Last night the topics were Pawnshops, Fake Enhancers and Ketamine. Of course, ketamine is used extensively in equine and small animal surgeries so the show featured an equine vet, who surprisingly is a brod and a batchmate, Ariel! His team was shown putting a horse to sleep and doing knee surgery.
That was a segment, the next segment focused on the users explaining the "near death K-zone" experience.

Ketamine
Just recently, PDEA busted huge amounts of this drug. Ketamine was already around in the 60’s and poses a threatening comeback. A drug strong enough to sedate a horse has once again become a party drug for junkies looking for the next high.

Series and Movies
I've finished watching the first and second season of Grey's Anatomy and the first season of House M.D., of course, from my SM (Suking Muslim). I like them both and I'm looking out for the succeeding seasons of House. Idol ko na sya. Seriously.
Next on my schedule are The 4400, Rome and Numb3rs. Ok din yung Numb3rs but less addictive than the first two.
I'm also into Korean movies. I still can't get off my mind My Sassy Girl. I watched the Korean version in Indang and I contacted my SM for a DVD copy but they couldn't find a copy in Quiapo. :-) I want to watch it again, maybe 3 more times. Parang-juuibo, The Legend of the Seven Cutter and See You After School were also OK but not as good as My Sassy Girl story-wise.
I was also able to buy a compilation DVD of Chinese movies but I still hasn't started viewing any of them. I hope their captioning is good.

Take note na yung shell, porous talaga yun.

Wowowee
I can only feel pity or those who perished in the Ultra Stampede which happened yesterday morning. Majority of those who died were seniors and children, mostly coming from rural/urban-poor communities. They may have been trampled upon because they were those who lined up first. Most of them are very weak and hungry because they were assembled there as early as Wednesday!
It just shows that many of our people are betting their future on TV gameshows which is so sad. This is an evidence that opportunities in this country are very, very rare.
ABS-CBN must be held responsible for this.
While listening to DZBB AM radio yesterday, because I was on the road the whole day, the anchor quipped that many died because most didn't care and were still focused on entering the stadium. Even when some were asking for help, most turned on the opposite direction. Very New York City!
