Where's the Pig?



This is a typical way of raising pigs in the countryside of the Philippines. Up to 75% of pigs here are owned by the small backyard raisers. The way they grow pigs vary from confined, to semi-confined, to free-range such as that shown above. Pigs raised this way are usually fed coconut, cassava, rice bran or even banana trunk!

How do you think would we be able to cope up with globalized trade if the government support system doesn't reach this segment? Is there a way for these small farmers to advance?
