I went to several towns today (Ternate, Maragondon, Silang and Indang) and I found out the kidnapping rumor is still circulating. Some schools even suspended classes such as in Trece Martires and Silang. The classes were suspended because most of the parents are not leaving their kids in school. Some parents stayed outside the classrooms to watch.
My officemates went to the municipal police station of Silang to inquire (because we have a white van with very dark tints which is similar to the vehicle being described in circulating SMS). They were told by police that the supposed kidnappings did not occur and the rumor that some of the kidnappers were arrested yesterday is also not true.
According to my officemates, even the police receive such SMS. Some policemen speculate that the rumor is to prevent people from joining rallies in the capital.
